ASI invades Rupemba
The recently formed ZCUC Adventist Laymens’ Services & Industries (ASI) chapter descended on Rupemba, Mberengwa from the 21st of April to the 5th of May, where they assisted the community by building a classroom block and a teacher’s house within a space of two weeks. Rupemba is a resettlement area in the Masvingo province which lacked infrastructural development and had no Adventist presence at all. The school had only one classroom block for an enrolment of 350 children from Grade 1 up to 7 and no secondary school or clinic in the vicinity. Thatched structures were being used as classrooms. The ASI leadership mobilized manpower and resources in the form of builders/constructors, cooks, vacation bible school teachers, holidays school teachers, witnessing teams, and VOP teachers from the whole union territory. Total member involvement was witnessed since every member used their skill to reach out to this community. Plans are underway to create an Agricultural irrigation project for the community. Over 130 souls have been won to Christ so far.
The Minister for Provincial Affairs, Midlands officially opened the new infrastructure and applauded the Adventist Church for the good work they do, not just in his region, but nationally.
