Mission to Gutu (Ruti Secondary Teachers House Ground Breaking)
There was joy in the Ruti community of Gutu when the 7tonne Nissan UD truck which was carrying building material, arrived at the secondary school. The Ruti schools were initially founded in the 1940s but the high school expansion started in the 1990s and it has been a struggle for the community to build the required infrastructure, only managing one block with 2 classrooms. Most parents prefer sending their children to distant but better established schools.
The building of the teachers’ house will ease the accommodation blues faced by the teachers. The local Member of Parliament for Gutu East, Honorable Berta Chikwama, is also facilitating the construction of a classroom block, which is now at window level, using the Constituency Development Funds.
Delivered to the site were door frames, window frames, roofing materials, cement and other material. The ground breaking ceremony was officiated by pastor Jothamu Manyakara. The community thanked the Adventist church leadership for being true to their words that they would come and assist the community. “We are happy that the S.D.A. have come here to build for us a house for the teachers. Many organisations come and promise but don’t deliver, this is a huge milestone for the school,” said the village head Mr Felix Mavoro.
The Building project is just one of the activities that will be done in Gutu. 65 centres have been identified where the Adventist church will be conducting various activities during the day, culminating in evangelism services every evening from the 13th-19th of October 2019 in the Gutu rural and urban centres.
